What
can we say about Ricardo and his colleagues? One word -- AMAZING!
Four years ago, on the recommendation of a friend, we hired Ricardo
to be our tour guide. We had the best time! Well this time was no
different. Ricardo’s knowledge of Sao Miguel , its villages and
history is wonderful and his passion for the island shines through. He customized our tour and took us everywhere we wanted to go and to places we had never been, all the while entertaining us with his wonderful sense of humour. An afternoon of “Portuguese Bingo” as we referred to it, kept us all laughing as we drove from place to place! ( Macedo,??? Really?? LOL!!) We were on a genealogy trip this visit and Ricardo assisted us in finding family villages and even helped us uncover family history and documents at the Bibliotheca in Ponta Delgada. It truly was a wonderful experience. Ricardo, thank you for being sure we had a driver available to take us to dinner or shopping whenever we needed one. Carlos & Carlos & Mario were great, we were always made to feel like family. Our hope is to see you again next year and we will continue to recommend you to all our friends. Obrigado e muito beijos!

Ricardo is a great tour-guide: friendly, knowledgeable, entertaining, and passionate about the island, a real ambassador for São Miguel. He is also a careful driver, unlike some of the island's other inhabitants! We saw some wonderful things in our half-day tour and if I ever return I hope he'll be around to show me more of this beautiful island. If you go to the Azores and don't take a tour with Ricardo you're missing out.

We had Carlos from amazing tours as our guide, and it was a wonderful time. He showed us the things we wanted to see and much more. He showed us all the local "secret" places, like waterfalls and natural pools by sea and recommended the best restaurants. We can absolutely recommend amazing tours and Carlos as the guide.

A group of us booked an Amazing Tour with Ricardo on our trans-Atlantic crossing this past spring. We were met at the pier as we got off the ship as arranged and taken on a wonderful tour of the island. As Ricardo suggested, we left the tour in his hands and he didn't let us down. A great sightseeing tour, including a stop at a terrific local restaurant where we ate a huge meal with wine for only 11 Euros per person! I would book with Ricardo again in a heartbeat. Ricardo you are a gem. On behalf of the gals I travelled with, I want to thank you for making our trip magical. We could not have asked for a better guide. I just can't imagine how our trip would have turned out if we had another tour guide. It is so evident that you love the island paradise that you call home. It radiates from you. The fact that you love where you are from and what you do, shines through all day long. We did have some long wonderful days. The breathtaking places you took us to (and you didn't even make us hike much) we noticed. You are such a great listener and were in tune to our every need. You are an incredible man.... thoughtful, intelligent, genuine with a great sense of humour and patience.....the patience to deal with 7 50 year old women. Amazing! Lets not forget the singing. A couple of years ago I brought my late mother, a wheelchair user, to Sao Miguel. She and I found the island to be beautiful, unspoilt and most relaxing. We booked a tour with Ricardo to the east of the island and it was a fantastic trip. During a stop, Ricardo kindly pushed Mum in her chair through a lovely parkland overlooking the sea, giving me a little break. I will never forget that. I highly recommend anybody to book an Amazing Tour!

We tried to book a tour with Richardo for early May; unfortunately, he was booked. He very generously arranged a tour with one of his colleagues, Carlos. Carlos was an excellent tour guide, who is fluent in English. Carlos is a Azorian by birth, and his enthusiasm about his home island is reflected in his outstanding guided tour. I would highly recommend Carlos as a guide; since Ricardo put us on to Carlos, I can infer that either would be an excellent choice for anyone interested in a professional tour of the Sao Miguel.

We had a wondeful visit to the Azores this March.
We have traveled extensively and seen many world wonders. Never
however have I seen so many world wonders in one place as on Sao
Miguel Islan. Amazing vistas around every corner, sea views,volcanic
hills, waterfalls, tranquil green pastures where cows grace
peacefully. What a gorgeous green Island Paradise.

My family and I visited Sao Miguel during our march break, when my brother and I had a week off of school. It was a little intimidating visiting an island out in the middle of the ocean, but by the end of our first day tour with Ricardo, I knew our visit was going to be great. Ricardo knows absolutely everything there is to know about the island, and is one of the most personable people I have ever met. He kept me and my brother interested and entertained through the entire trip. He is also extremely funny, as he and "mr.Noah" exchanged many hilarious conversations. If you are going to make a trip to Sao Miguel, you would have to be crazy not to have Ricardo as your tour guide, you would miss an "amazing" aspect of your trip.

Our family of 9 (ages 3 to 65 yrs old) recently spent a week on the beautiful island of Sao Miguel in the Azores. It was the best family vacation. Thanks in large part to Ricardo Amorim of Amazing Tours. We spent 2 full days with Ricardo, discovering all the Island offered---it is truly a "hidden jewel" .Ricardo was so knowledgeable, so entertaining, and most important--he was so attuned to our needs--especially travelling with small children. Best part of the trip--we didn't have to drive. Best advice: leave the driving to Ricardo !!! Thank you Ricardo for making our vacation so memorable. We really enjoyed everything about the Azores, from the beautiful scenery to the delicious food and wine. We spent two full days touring the island of Sao Miguel with Ricardo. What a beautiful island! Ricardo was very knowledgeable and we learned so much about the Azores. Ricardo was also very entertaining and fit in great with our family (7 adults and 2 kids). We really enjoyed our time with him. He was wonderful with the kids (ages 3 and 4) and they are still talking about him! I asked my 4 year old daughter how she would describe Ricardo and she said "he was very thoughtful"! Ricardo really made our vacation special and I would highly recommend him to anyone. We had a great day with Ricardo in early November. He
took 8 of us from a cruise ship all around the west of the island
for a 5 hour tour. We saw loads and had a wonderful day. Ricardo's

We have just returned from a weeks holiday on the beautiful island of Sao Miguel. We were a party of 6 with ages ranging from 26 - 57..( you know who the oldest is, Ricardo! ). This guy is a legend!! We had two full day tours with him and he kept us all thoroughly entertained. He is funny, knowledgeable about the island he loves, sensitive and a fantastic guide....but he cannot fix the weather!! I cannot stress enough that if you are lucky enough to go to The Azores please, please book Ricardo and you will not be disappointed!

I guarantee you will laugh until you cry, and will see all that the island has to offer complete with answers to almost every question you can ask! I don't know why he calls himself a taxi guide, because he is really a top notch tour guide with a serious work ethic and a passion for the area he calls home. In all honesty I doubt that there is any better tour on that island. I would recommend his tour to anybody who wants to have fun, with a guide that loves his job so much that he taught himself how to speak three different languages! Ricardo, Thanks buddy for all the laughs and the exceptional hospitality. And remember, buy a mini bus, or you will be eating favas and chorizo when you are 60!

Ricardo- we had SO much fun on our trip to Sao Miguel. I was editing my videos of our trip and I remembered this web site and I thought I would leave you a message. We laughed so much, saw amazing sights, and had so much fun while doing it. Our trip was wonderful and you helped make it unforgettable. I will always remember the time we spent on the island. The "Two Brothers" are doing well after their frightening journey to the top of the mountain. I think they'll be just fine. Hey Ricardo, Just wanted to say thanks from Diane and I and the whole family. As my brother Donny said below, Ricardo's expert knowledge, connections and personality really helped make our "family Trip" into a discovery of a paradise that is unknown to many. It's incredible that there are so many absolutely beautiful sights to see and places to go that not even the locals know about, but Ricardo sure does. He managed to impress both my parents and my uncle who lived on the island as children and who have also visited several times yet had not been shown the amazing natural beauties of the cete cidades, port formoso, terra ferraria, logao de fogue and much more. The guided tour simply blew away our expectations and what i thought was a simple island. I'm recommending Ricardo and the island of Sao Miguel to EVERYONE i know and we will defintely be returning in a few years with a much larger group i'm sure.
